Compounding Calamities: Pursuing Equity Amid Crises in Community Colleges

COVID-19 has rapidly upended life for many collegians and has exacerbated inequities that already existed. The disruption to educational plans and imposed challenges of the global pandemic are far reaching.

Concurrent with the health crisis are issues such as racial unrest, economic decline, and a leadership vacuum that is widening opportunity gaps and making racialized inequities more acute. This is especially true for community college students, many of whom have marginalized identities and are already struggling with existing inequalities.

Meet the presenters who will discuss these topics:

Edward Bush, Cosumnes River College
Linda Garcia, University of Texas at Austin
Audrey J. Jaeger, North Carolina State University
Xueli Wang, University of Wisconsin - Madison
Eboni M. Zamani-Gallaher, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
