Health Professions Pathways (H2P)
The Health Professions Pathways (H2P) project was initially funded through the United States Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant (TAACCCT) grant program. The H2P Consortium included community colleges, community agencies, and partner employers that sought to improve health professions education and training. The Office of Community College Research and Leadership (OCCRL) conducted external evaluation of H2P. OCCRL employed Pathways to Results to support continuous improvement and sustainable practices.
Goals
The H2P Consortium sought to increase the attainment of degrees, certificates, and other industry-recognized credentials, as well as better prepare the targeted population for high-wage, high skill employment in health professions. H2P also sought to galvanize a national movement to improve health professions training and education with three major goals in mind:
- Provide trade-impacted and low-skilled workers with adequate preparation, support, and opportunities to complete postsecondary training in health professions that provide credentials aligned with job advancement.
- Expand and enhance the healthcare workforce with competencies needed by industry.
- Build the capacity of community colleges to continuously assess student and employment outcomes and use this information to improve the quality of healthcare programs.
To this end, H2P Consortium colleges strove to sustain and scale practices implemented during with TAACCCT grant that centered on a career pathways framework that included a competency-based core curriculum.

H2P Summit
OCCRL acted as third party evaluator and hosted the H2P Summit in partnership with the H2P National Office. Teams from each of the nine Consortium colleges gathered in Cincinnati on July 20 and July 21, 2015, to reflect on and celebrate four years of working together to build rigorous healthcare pathways to support student achievement.

As part of the consortium’s sustainability efforts, each H2P college participated in the Pathways to Results process that involves analysis of disaggregated data on student outcomes to identify and resolve equity gaps.
