Osly Flores

Assistant Professor, Educational Administration & Leadership

Osly J. Flores is an assistant professor in the Department of Education Policy, Organization & Leadership at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interest focuses on two educational research areas: K-12 school leadership and graduate students of color. In K-12 research, he examines race-consciousness school leadership and leadership practices by school leaders of color. His research on graduate students of color concentrates on their persistence within predominantly white institutions (PWIs) and the development of the Latino male bond of compañerismo as a tool to successfully navigate the doctoral program. He previously worked in the Office for College, Career and Technical Education at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). At DESE, he participated in the monitoring of school districts and public two-year colleges for Chapter 74 state-approved vocational/technical education programs, non-Chapter 74 career and technical education programs funded through the federal Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act, and the federal Office for Civil Rights’s (OCR) Method of Administration (MOA).
