Georgia

The University System of Georgia (USG) consists of 30 public colleges and universities. Of these, 19 institutions award associate’s degrees (these are primarily in the sector now known as “state colleges”). Georgia initially worked with three regional groups of “sending” and “receiving” institutions. One of these, a group with one sending and two receiving institutions, is ready for a pilot using the new technology described below. It is expected that this group will go from “pilot” to “scale” during summer 2015, and that reverse transfer at the remaining USG institutions will go to scale in fall 2015.

Georgia Profile

In March of 2014, OCCRL published a profile of each CWID state. The 2014 Georgia Profile includes descriptions of a) goal,  b) key activities planned, c) challenges and anticipated challenges, and d) successes to date. In May of 2015, OCCRL published a second profile of each CWID state. The 2015 Georgia Profile provides expands on and updates the areas covered in the 2014 profile with additional information on the sustainability of Georgia’s reverse transfer system. Key implementation strategies outlined in the profiles are below, please see the profiles for further description.

Key Implementation Strategies:

  • expand and enhance reverse transfer processes at all USG institutions
  • define and remove policy barriers to reverse transfer at the USG and institutional levels
  • define and enhance data systems that will support reverse transfer
  • increase program awareness among faculty, staff, and students
